Padis Centre - Visitor Hotspot
The Oradea based Center for Protected Areas and Sustainable Development in partnership with the Apuseni Nature Park Administration are glad to announce the approval of a project for the setting up of the Padiş Visitor Centre.
The project, named The Padiş Visitor Centre - a visitor hotspot, was approved for financing in the March 2009 evaluation session of the Partnership Foundation in Miercurea Ciuc and MOL Romania, through their joint program Green Areas - Nature Protected Areas component.
With a total value of 24.845 lei, the project targets an increase in the visitor awareness within the central area of the Apuseni Nature Park (the Padiş karst plateau). An exhibit related to caves and karst, their formation and the need for conservation, will be installed in the new centre building, located in the Padiş plateau, famous for its underground treasures.

Other activities target the establishment of a self-guiding interpretive trail nearby the building, by which visitors will discover and better understand the karst formations in the area, and also the distribution of information materials, including maps.

The building is located in the area called The Padiş Plain (Şesul Padiş), in a beautiful setting nearby the old forestry lodge, and at 5 minutes walk from the main crossroad between the access road to the Padiş Cabin and the road to Vărăşoaia Cabin. It was built between 2005-2007 through a PHARE CBC project "Romanian-Hungarian corridor for biodiversity conservation" implemented by the Apuseni Nature Park Administration.

Inside the building, there will be a presentation room where multi-media projections will be held and other presentations related to the Apuseni Nature Park, and also an exhibition room. A setting for ecological education practical activities for children will be provided.

The exhibition will be installed during the summer of 2009, and the opening of the centre for visitors is scheduled to occur in August 2009.

Enjoy your stay the Padiş area in the Apuseni Nature Park!
